I wanted to talk a little about the creation process of Mandy, our Christmas special. I feel like I learned some things that will be beneficial for improving my posting schedule and, consequently, the content you receive, which is always my biggest concern.
And yes, I’m a little late with the post, but if you look, it was about 11 pages in 11 or 12 days. That’s one page per day. The thing is, I tend to post around 4 pages at a time. This time, they were all at once.
And while it’s a simpler style than usual, the important thing this time was to celebrate and for you all to have something under the tree. We can all agree that unwrapping Mandy to see what’s inside was the important thing here. 😁

After having the script, the idea when drawing is to gradually increase the resolution as you clean up the page. For sketching, I did it at 72 dpi and tried to organize the pages at this resolution. Complete pages: dialogue, sound effects, frames, etc. In fact, more ideas for the script itself emerged from this.
Later, in those scenes I considered complex, I used 3D. But generally, to clean everything up, I increased the resolution to 150 dpi. Here’s the trick: in Clip Studio, you can work with vector layers. These layers maintain their aspect ratio when enlarged, which is why the pages ordered in low resolution retained many elements when the dpi was increased.
This time I left it at 150 dpi. Because most people view this on their phones, and that’s sufficient here. But I will try to increase it to 300 dpi, as I usually do, in future installments.
That’s probably the most important thing I did in this comic. And I was debating whether to put it in a paid tier… But in the end, all of this has to be free.
